If you played Nintendo in the 80s, you knew about the game counselors.
What was a game counselor? The counselors dispensed tips and tricks for gamers at a free phone number (the best known number is 1-800-422-2602, still owned by Nintendo today). Though they later made it a 900 number to pay for the service, for a while you could get free help from some of the brightest minds playing Nintendo. This profile comes from the Fall 1987 issue of Nintendo Fun Club News, the company’s free newsletter.
