Watch L.A.’s Union Station open in this color footage from 1939

It’s amazing to see bright color images from 1939, and it doesn’t hurt that there’s a parade to go with it.

This footage was taken by Disney animator Ward Kimball, who was also a serious train hobbyist. That legacy is honored both by the footage and by the comments on the YouTube page, which are supplied by equally avid railroad geeks.
