Kahn from King of the Hill and Artie, the strongest man in the world, are the same guy

Toby Huss as Artie and KahnWant proof that a voice actor can really disappear into their part? Toby Huss can help.

The actor might first ring a bell as Artie, the strongest man in the world, on the classic Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete and Pete, but a glance at his IMDB page reveals that you’ve seen him in many different parts. He’s on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire, was on HBO’s Carnivale, and has even tweaked out on Reno 911!.

Perhaps the most surprising roles are the ones he played on King of the Hill. Because his voice feels so recognizable as Artie, it’s a surprise to learn he played both Kahn Souphanousinphone, Sr. and Cotton Hill, Hank’s father, on the animated series. As he revealed in a 2011 interview, he knew creator Mike Judge from working on Beavis and Butthead. He didn’t normally do a Kahn-style voice, but when Judge called, he was up to the task.
