See a very young Theodore Roosevelt after he got his first job
It didn’t take long for Theodore Roosevelt to make it in politics. In 1881, he was just a year out of Harvard, but he was still elected to the New York State Assembly.
Since Roosevelt was already becoming a prominent political voice, this 1884 portrait was taken for Scribner’s. Roosevelt was 26. Just two years later, he ran to be Mayor of New York (and came in third).
