Watch the guy who designed I ♥ NY talk about his skull of grapes

Milton Glaser is familiar to graphic design geeks for his wide range of work, including his creation of the I ♥ NY logo, his work for Bob Dylan, and his logos for DC Comics and Brooklyn Brewery. As if that weren’t enough, he also founded New York Magazine.

But even those familiar with his work might not know about his politically charged skull of grapes. Made to support the Cesar Chavez-led grape boycott, the poster supported the May 10, 1969 International Grape Boycott.

If nothing else, it shows that a good graphic designer can have incredible versatility with powerful images.
