Invented by Evangeline Gilbert in 1923, the idea was simple enough: clamp the wearer’s cheek until they have dimples. It looks like a painful price to pay for dimples, but maybe it was worth it. It’s probably better than plastic surgery.
The dimple-maker wasn’t Gilbert’s only painful beauty invention—she also came up with a beauty ball to rub out wrinkles and creases.
